Bits of Sweetness: When I Say (repost)

When I Say (repost)

I was going through my blog entries. It's amazing how much you forget in just four years. Many I had forgotten I'd posted. I wanted to repost something I found from a friend. Before I post it though,a few of my own thoughts-

I'll say, and gladly too- I am a Christian. I don't believe in a set of rules, but a relationship with God. I believe that there is a heaven and a hell, and that one day, everyone will face God and go to one or the other. I don't believe being good is enough to get you there. I believe that the way to heaven is through simply ABC- admitting that we have sinned, believing that Jesus died for those sins on the cross, and confessing those sins and asking Jesus into our hearts. I know it sounds so cliche. It's not. It's incredible. It's life changing. Yes, I know there are people, many many people who give "Christians" a bad name, but, you know what? The people Jesus love are the ones who are imperfect (so... everyone ;-) ). Christianity is not some elite club to get into. It's about sacrificial love, a relationship, a hope, a reason to live, and an eternal future. Not so bad, eh?

"When I say, "I am a Christian" I'm not shouting out "I am saved" I'm whispering "I got lost. That is why I chose this way."

When I say, "I am a Christian" I don't speak of this with pride. I'm confessing that I stumble and need God to be my guide.

When I say, "I am a Christian" I'm not trying to be strong. I'm professing that I'm weak and pray for strength to carry on.

When I say, "I am a Christian" I'm not bragging of success. I'm admitting I have failed and cannot ever pay the debt.

When I say, "I am a Christian" I'm not claiming to be perfect, my flaws are too visible but God believes I'm worth it.

When I say, "I am a Christian" I still feel the sting of pain I have my share of heartaches which is why I seek His name.

When I say, "I am a Christian" I do not wish to judge I have no authority. I only know I'm loved."
