Bits of Sweetness: Thankful Thursday

Thankful Thursday

This week, I'm thankful for birthdays. December is busy to say the least, with my birthday, father- in-laws birthday, Andrew's birthday, Grandpa's birthday,Christmas programs and celebrations and- you get the picture. But you know what? I love it. Each and every one of those celebrations is very special to me and our family.

Today, I'm thankful--

for a special birthday celebration. I feel so loved & blessed beyond words. My dad made a special birthday lunch and we celebrated with cake & ice cream afterwards. He could have just gotten pizza and I would have been happy, but he made a meal for me. It was so sweet!
{I love Andrew's expression here!!}

And then Andrew. I'm thankful for his sweet little thoughtfulness. Josh took him to pick out anything for me for a birthday present at the dollar store and he picked out a teddy bear and a bag of kit kats. It was pretty special. {We named the bear kit kat ;) } I guess it's a good thing love isn't based on doings because he finished off my bag of kit kats this morning! Little stinker! I still love him though :) I'm looking forward to his birthday coming up Friday and birthday party on Saturday. Confession: I have yet to do anything for his party except collect some boxes for an Angry Birds game. Oops. :D Hey we've got two more days!

I'm thankful for my sweet husband. Thanks to our youth pastor, wife and family, Josh and I got to go on a kid-free date. We went out to eat at Boston's Pizza and had lots of fun just being together.

We kindof forgot that everything closes early on Sundays and our date was short-lived but hey- you take what you get, right?? :D

Also thankful for this sweet little baby. His smiles never cease to make me smile!

I'm thankful for just having a house. I know that is a small thing, but the other day, I was getting all frustrated because there was a mountain of laundry yet to be folded, and even more to be done. The house really needed picked up. There were tons of dishes piling up. The kitchen floor needed swept and mopped and then all the toys all over. Ugh. Commence frustration. I stopped for a second though because the thought hit me, "Come on Laura you have a home. Be thankful for that." Ouch. So true. And, as nice as it would be to have all that stuff done, it just isn't quite possible with kids and I need to just let.it.go. I am thankful for a hubby who doesn't stress over how our home is. Either way, it's ok. And, for that I am thankful.

I am thankful for the times I don't have it all together. It means I'm human and need to trust God a little more. Plus, it knocks the full-of-myself down a few notches,

I'm thankful for peace of mind. Earlier it sounded like a pipe had fluid rushing through it, but nothing was on. Earlier this year our water heater pipe burst. Cue panicky feeling of attempting to locate the water gush. When what to my panicky eyes should appear but a baby monitor left on with a soft stream of static causing the worry. It sounded just like water in a pipe. Can you say big relief?? :)

Back in a few days with a 3-month Adrian and 5-year Andrew update.

And no way did I seriously just type that!

I'd love to hear what you're thankful for! Feel free to comment or link up!

  1. I think we all have that moment where we stop and think about how much we have to be grateful for.
