Bits of Sweetness: Our *favorite* books for adventurous kids

Our *favorite* books for adventurous kids

Reading happens a lot here amidst all the wrestling and trampoline-jumping. It is a wonderful tool to help the kids find calm and stretch their imagination! Our kids are incredibly adventurous. It's glorious to encourage that. Some of the top picks you'll find in our home:

1:: The Chronicles of Narnia- you really can't beat traveling to a magical land through a spare wardrobe! We just finished the first book and have the second ready to go.

2:: Dangerous Books - for Girls and Boys! This is like a blast from the past with neat experiments, facts, and some cool ideas to encourage kids to be adventurous and creative! Andrew often can be found reading this one.
3:: Time Traveler - Actually four books in one, this is a brand new favorite for us that we just got last week. It's a thrilling read through time and has lots of action packed into it!
4:: From the Mixed up Files of Mrs. Basil E Frankweiler - I loved this one as a kid. Andrew and I have had lots of fun reading through it together. The idea of escapading through a museum and having adventures just tickled his fancy!
5:: Mrs. Piggle Wiggle - This one really encourages imaginations to run wild, plus it's great for the younger listeners too! (It's a great positive behavior tool!)
6:: Amelia Who Could Fly - Based on Amelia Earhart's story, this neat book is fantastic for encouraging kids to chase their dreams. Flying would be so cool! Another Usborne favorite!
7:: Muddle & Match Collection - This one is really cool. Each page is split into three sections so you can imagine to your heart's desire. There are different occupations and imaginative creations featured. We loved that the girl one included a superhero! It gets pretty hilarious when you start combining. Great for littles and little-bigs!
8:: American Girl series - I had the entire Kirsten collection and the doll as a girl. I recently picked up some of the Molly books from the library for Andrew to read. The historical element is not only educational but awesome!
9:: Ten Boys Who Changed the World - even kids can change the world! Tap into their adventurous side with this neat book. There is one for girls too!
10:: Trailblazer Books - Discover who these heroes of the faith were. Phenomenal series we highly recommend! Lots of adventure and page-turning quality!

What books weren't on the list? What did you love as a kid?!
